If you’re looking for a drink with friends where the ambiance is pleasant and the view is fantastic, then you need to look no further than Le Perchoir Marais. Set atop the famed BHV Le Marais flagship department store and offering an Eiffel Tower view, here’s how to visit, as well as what to expect when you go.
Address | 37 Rue de la Verrerie, 75004 Paris, France
Overlooking the Hôtel de Ville, the administrative centre of Paris which has roots dating back to the 14th-century but was largely reconstructed during the 19th-century, Le Perchoir Marais was originally opened to the public several years ago and has since become a staple of the Parisian bar scene, particularly that of the 4th arrondissement where the drinking establishment is based.
Perfect for a date night or simply hanging out with friends, you should know before you go that the bar is a little on the pricier side of things. For example, the cheapest glass of white wine is €7, while cocktails are typically upwards of €12 and soft drinks hover around €5. The nearest metro station is that of Hôtel de Ville (line 1 and line 11).
How to visit Le Perchoir Marais
Visit Le Perchoir bar during the summer months and you can expect to find queues to enter this cool rooftop bar snaking their way down the block. After all, the rooftop is ever-popular on account of its spectacular views and even better location right in the heart of Le Marais district of the city.
However, head to Le Perchoir during the winter months and a different story will unfold in front of your eyes. Though the twinkling Christmas lights of the festive displays may be glittering and the Christmastime market of nearby Châtelet Les Halles may be in full swing, few people opt to venture to the Parisian rooftop bar, meaning that there’s no queues.
Instead, after clearing security, you can head straight into the elevator and up towards the 7th floor where after walking down a fairly long corridor, you’ll soon be rewarded with a beautiful bar offering panoramic views. From Église Saint Gervais to the left, to Hôtel de Ville directly in front, and the Eiffel Tower to the right-hand side, there’s no shortage of beautiful views to admire.
Head towards the far end of the bar and you’ll even soon spy a glimpse of the Paris Panthéon in the Latin Quarter. Locals and tourists mix alike and Le Perchoir Marais opening times are as follows; Tuesday to Friday 20:15 – 01:30 and Saturday 20:455 to 01:30. No reservations are possible and so head to the bar earlier rather than later if you want to get the best seats (and views!)
While in the summer, the rooftop is open to the elements, during the winter time, much of the bar is covered with a heated marquee, meaning that you can enjoy the panoramas without getting too cold. Whatever you do, make sure to plan your visit post dar so as to coincide with the first five minutes on the hour, every hour, when the Eiffel Tower sparkles and you can capture the prettiest photos!
