If you’re looking for some seriously pretty lattés and a quaint atmosphere on your trip to the British capital, then you need to look no further than the Farm Girl Café in Notting Hill, an area best known for its gigantic antique market and picture-perfect houses. Here’s a guide to searching for some of the best specialty coffee in London.

Cutest Cafés in London, England you won't want to miss: Farm Girl Café

Somewhat tucked away in a leafy area of Portobello Road, Farm Girl Café is situated behind a painted wooden door at 59A. Once inside, you’ll soon be shown to your table where a pitcher of cucumber water will be awaiting you.

Service is fairly fast and the menu options cater to those who are looking for healthier options. Other menu elements that are good for those with dietary requirements include a dairy free selection of alternative milks, and meat-free options (including vegan items).

Food and Drink at the Farm Girl Café

First things first: did the lattés taste as good as they looked? Well, yes and no! If you’re like me and love anything coffee-related it’s worth noting that these lattés are literal lattés (flavoured warm glasses of milk).

If you want something coffee infused, then you’ll have to order a shot of caffeine in your drink or opt for a different beverage. It’s also noting that while the food is incredibly good it’s also incredibly pricey to match the coffee’s ever-growing popularity.

Think £4 to £4.50 for a coffee and over £10 for a brunch meal. As such, this is one of those experiences that you may or may not want to splurge on during your trip to the UK capital…

Thanks to the rise of social media, and the ‘instagrammability’ of the coffee shop, Farm Girl’s popularity has only just gone up and up in recent years. As such, the café is best visited earlier in the day so as to avoid having to queue out the door (quite literally)! Farm Girl café is also one of the most Instagrammable eatries in London.

While the coffee shop is open every day of the week, if you’re making a trip to London mid-week then all the better- it’s not unheard of that you turn up at the coffee shop early in the morning on a weekend and still have to queue for a while!

There are two dining options once you’re at the cafe. One is to sit in the interior of Farm Girl (i.e. perfect for a rainy or particularly chilly day), while the other is to enjoy the en plein air dining experience of sitting at the little garden picnic tables in the coffee shop’s cobbled courtyard.

Both times I’ve visited the location in Notting Hill, I’ve opted for the outdoor terrace option, enjoying the garden space and watching people pass by the small entryway on the street outside.

The Farm Girl Café has been so successful since its inception in Notting Hill that there are now several more locations across London. These include Knightsbridge, Fitzrovia, and Soho. In the springtime (usually from the beginning to middle of May), the Farm Girl location in Notting Hill boasts a bunch of beautiful wisteria blooms at the entrance.

Things to see and do near Farm Girl Coffee Shop

Go shopping at the largest antique market in the world

Every day, but particularly on the weekends when there are extra pop-up stores, Portobello Road Market is held. Self-touted as the largest antique market of its kind in the world, you never know what you might pick up on a trip along the stalls. Vintage postcards, quirky clothing, and even ancient sporting goods are all on sale!

Go in search of filming locations

Both Notting Hill and Love Actually were filmed in and around Notting Hill. This means that a fun (as well as incredibly free) activity is to wander around with your camera in one hand, curiosity in the other, chasing after movie locations in the area. Make sure not to miss St Luke’s Mews, which is where Keira Knightley’s character lived in the film and is home to that pink house facçade.

Wander down the many mews streets in the area

Throughout the city, but mainly in Chelsea, Kensington, and Notting Hill there are plenty of meandering lanes and alleyways collectively known as ‘mews streets’. These pretty pockets of tranquility were once used to house horses back when the city ran on horsepower.

Today, the London mews streets are some of the most exclusive real estate in the city and provide secluded areas of tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life.
