Marble-top tables, delicious food, and bright decor: Contrast Bordeaux truly is an Instagrammers dream. And so, if you’re looking to enjoy brunch in the city (quite literally any day of the week with the exception of Thursday), then this coffee shop’s ideal location, right beside the city’s cathedral, makes for a great place to enjoy food and coffee among friends!
Contrast Bordeaux has been open for close to a year and is increasingly growing in popularity among tourists and locals alike. Opened by Laura et Mamadou, the idea of the coffee shop is simple: to serve the best brunch in Bordeaux, complete with plenty of delicious dishes in a relaxed atmosphere.

Brunch at Contrast
Located steps away from the impressive Gothic Cathedral of Saint-André, an all-day brunch spot can be found. For a set menu of €22, you’ll get a speciality coffee (of your choice), a smoothie bowl (of which there are several on offer), some toast, and a fresh juice.
Everything is made in-house, with the exception of the maple syrup and bread! Fluffy pancakes, smoothie bowls, and poached egg on toast are all presented with attention to detail and made with care. For those who don’t want to eat a full brunch, you can also order specific items from the menu or simply order a hot drink or juice.
Coffee at Contrast
If you’re looking for speciality coffees in Bordeaux, then you’ve come to the right place. From chai lattés to cappuccinos, there’s a whole load of incredible coffee on the menu, and each is as delicious as the last. All the coffees are served complete with coffee art; I spied floral designs, heart shapes, and even a cute bear and sweet pig adorning the top of the hot beverages!
Tips for visiting Contrast Bordeaux
The café is one of the few places to serve brunch every day of the week. As such, it’s pretty well known and can get quite busy as the day goes on! If you want to get your pick of the best seating in the house (i.e. in the comfortable loungers right by the window), then you’ll need to head there around ten minutes before opening time.
This is particulaly true on weekends when lines can grow pretty long, pretty quickly! Food is served on a first come first serve basis and while the coffee shop remains open throughout the day, once brunch has run out, only drinks are available.
There are no reservations available. Instead, if you want to visit a brunch spot where you’ll be guaranteed a place and don’t have to wake up as early, then Kitchen Garden (22 Rue Sainte-Colombe) takes reservations and offers plenty of vegan options, including scrambled tofu!
