“The coffee is good and the wifi is fast;” these are the two elements I look for when selecting a suitable study/ workspace for the day. If you’re anything like me, then working from home is a big no-no. There are way too many temptations for starters, and that’s before you factor in being able to take a nap whenever you want! As such, I’m always searching for new and interesting places to study in Paris.

Since moving to the city, I’ve found that there are a surprising number of cafés don’t have WiFi (pronounced in French ‘wee-fee’). While out with friends, this is a great way not to become distracted by social media, but it’s not so great if you actually want to work! As such, I’ve compiled a list of places that do have a good internet connection, ensuring that you can catch up on all your meerkat memes emails as you work.

Where to Study in Paris:

Deli-cieux, Printemps

64 Boulevard Haussmann, 75009 Paris

With an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower, you’re already off to a good start! An espresso coffee here can be purchased for as little as €2. I’ve found that the WiFi here is some of the best in Paris and go to Printemps to study often. To be honest, of all the places to study in Paris on this list, Deli-Cieux is probably my favourite!

Comptoir Général

80 Quai de Jemmapes, 75010 Paris

Situated along the picturesque Canal Saint-Martin, you would never have guessed that such a bar lies behind a fairly battered door lying along the banks of the water. In the evening, the cavernous space is filled with themed rooms serving various drinks. In the daytime, the place is a hive of people studying and working on laptops and in groups on various sofas and tables scattered around.

Centre Pompidou

Place Georges-Pompidou, 75004 Paris

The Centre Pompidou is not only home to one of the most impressive art collections in France (after Chantilly and the Louvre), but also home to an equally impressive library.

La bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève

10 Place du Panthéon, 75005 Paris

Think Harry Potter meets Paris. This is easily one of my favourite places to study in the city because it’s the kind of environment that makes you feel guilty for not working! Just make sure to arrive early as the space fills up fast and is operated on a one in, one out policy from that point on.

L’AntiCafé

If you’re planning on spending a while somewhere, then ”AntiCafé may well not be for you. The concept is simple: you pay for the time you stay. Whether it’s one hour, or four, you pay per hour and in return receive unlimited snacks and drinks. Prices start at €4 the first hour, followed by €3 for each following hour.

Jozi Café

3 Rue Valette, 75005 Paris

Situated in the Latin Quarter of the city, not far from the Paris Panthéon and the Sorbonne university, Jozi café is a cute coffee establishment serving all manner of speciality coffees and other light refreshments. Please note that while the WiFi is speedy and I saw plenty of people doing their work and study while frequenting the café, little signs of the table note ‘no laptops at lunchtime’.
