Situated steps away from the station, Townhouse Designhotel Maastricht is a red bricked-façade, complete with a quirky interior. The accommodation has a focus on hospitality and even welcomes a soup on arrival, as well as a complimentary nightcap and goodies at breakfast each morning. Here’s a review of checking into the Townhouse Designhotel Maastricht…

If you’ve never heard of the pretty city of Maastricht, then now is the perfect time to plan a visit! Home to highlights such as a red church tower which is so painted so as to preserve the soft stone and countless underground tunnels dating back to the 17th-century, Maastricht is even home to countless hilly hiking trails (truly unique in a country such as the Netherlands which is predominantly flat).

Located in the ever-so-trendy Wyck-Ceramique district of the city, Townhouse Designhotel is close to plenty of bars, restaurants, and independent shops. If you’re after some history, then the historic heart of the city is just a ten-minute walk away, across the glittering waters of the river.

If there’s one thing that the Townhouse Designhotel Maastricht prides itself on, it’s customer service. From the get-go, the team are accommodating and friendly. There are even sweets on the counter and comfortable chairs dotted around the reception area to make you feel more at home.

During the day time, a laid back approach means that pastries and cakes are available throughout the day and payment is based on an honesty bar approach. In fact, the rest of Maastricht is well-known for its customer-service based approach and 80% of the hotels in Maastricht are rated four-star, including Townhouse Maastricht!

The Room at Townhouse Maastricht

Our room was clean, comfortable, and much larger than I was expecting. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a welcome glass of prosecco and were pleased to see numerous books stacked on the beside tables. Decor was light, bright, and pretty ‘Insta-friendly’.

Amenities included a TV, speedy WiFi, wide windows, and ample desk space. One of the more interesting quirks of the room was to be found in the bathroom. After all, a radio could be found here where you could play music while you showered!

Breakfast was served in the open-plan living area and comprised of one of the best breakfast buffets I’ve ever been lucky enough to sample. Think several kinds of juices, countless tiny pastries, breakfast cereals, hot dishes, the works! As we were eating, someone came around with freshly baked local cakes and ‘healthy’ mini smoothie shots- a lovely touch!
