Taormina is one of those destinations that has truly popped up on many peoples radars over the past few years (namely thanks to its appearance in The White Lotus). The gorgeous Sicilian destination is well worth staying in, if only to soak up the fantastic views, eat a granita at BamBar, and relax on the beach.

Best luxury hotels in Taormina
Grand Hotel Timeo, A Belmond Hotel, Taormina
Located right next to the ancient Greek amphitheatre, the Grand Hotel Timeo is a five-star retreat from it all. As well as stunning views of Mount Etna and the Sicilian coastline, highlights include a garden, an interior pool, and a spa. Check prices and availability here.

NH Collection Taormina
Situated at the top of town, not far from the steps which lead to Castelmola, NH Collection Taormina boasts a rooftop terrace which features a cocktail bar where you can enjoy refreshing drinks overlooking the Sicilian countryside.
Amenities of this five-star establishment include an outdoor pool, air-conditioning (an absolute must during the hot Sicilian summer), a spa, and a restaurant on-site. Check prices and availability here.

Atlantis Bay – VRetreats
Enviably located directly on the shoreline of the Ionian Sea, in a bay known locally as the Baia delle Sirene (Mermaid’s Bay), the Atlantis Bay hotel is a five-star resort which promises the charm of a fishing village with all of the comforts of modern life.
Though not technically very close to old town Taormina (the duomo is around 6 km away), highlights of this Taormina accommodation include a pool, spa, beach access, a breakfast buffet, and a restaurant on-site. Check prices and availability here.

San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel
If you’re a fan of hit TV series then no doubt you’ll have heard of San Domenico Palace which was used as the backdrop for the second season of The White Lotus. And, if you’re anything like me, you were too distracted by the dazzling interiors of the hotel to focus completely on the storyline!
Set against the backdrop of a 14th-century former convent, highlights of this five-star establishment include an outdoor infinity pool, three restaurants on-site, a gym, and two bars. Check prices and availability here.

Mazzarò Sea Palace – VRetreats
Conveniently located above the famed Mazzarò Bay, this five-star holiday offers a swimming pool, spa, and beach access. There’s a complimentary breakfast buffet, as well as a restaurant and bar on-site. Check prices and availability here.

Villa Sant’Andrea, A Belmond Hotel, Taormina Mare
Situated on the fringes of the sea, in the Bay of Mazzarò, this five-star hotel has enchanted and enthralled guests since the 1950s. Highlights include a garden, outdoor swimming pool, and a fitness centre. Rooms offer Bulgari and Molton Brown bathroom toiletries.
We personally booked a table at the Ristorante Sant’Andrea (as non hotel guests) and loved our risottos paired with a glass of local wine overlooking one of the most picturesque bays in Mazzaro so I definitely recommend checking out their restaurant even if you don’t plan on staying at the hotel. Check prices and availability here.

UNAHOTELS Capotaormina
One of the more unique hotels on the Taormina stretch of the Sicily coastline is the UNAHOTELS Capotaormina, which offers a private beach which is accessible through a lift carved into the rock, as well as seawater swimming pools.
Other highlights of this four-star Taormina hotel include a spa and wellness centre, views of mount Etna, and three restaurants on-site. Check prices and availability here.

Grand Hotel San Pietro
Set amidst the backdrop of leafy green gardens, this five-star retreat offers a traditional Italian getaway with amenities such as a pool, restaurant, and some rooms have their own balconies (reserve your room early as these often sell out well ahead of time).
There is also a spa and fitness area, as well as a breakfast area which offers unbeatable views of the Mediterranean. Check prices and availability here.
