How I became a full-time content creator

My name is Sophie and I was born in the 90s. When I was studying at university (which is quite a long time ago now!) I started this website as a hobby. As well as studying, I was volunteering at museums, working part time, and I wanted to have a space where I could focus on my passions. In the beginning I would walk around London and create small blog posts about the hidden gems I would find. Well, it all ended up snowballing from there and today I travel the world for a living!

Yes! I studied at UCL and during my time at university I began this blog. More than 10 years later and this is my full time job. As a content creator I have seen many changes with social media, online content creation, and I have to wear many hats! In the beginning I was focused on Instagram before I moved onto blogging. Today I split my focus across ebooks, this website, social media, and YouTube.

I have spent my adult life living between London and France but spend most of my time on the road, creating content for this blog and for my YouTube channel!

When I tell people that I make money from my travel blog, the number one question I get asked is ‘how do you make money’? Well, the long answer is ‘in a lot of different ways’. Today I work with my husband and sister and, not only do we create guides (which include display ads and affiliate links) but I also do brand consulting, create marketing materials for brands, write ebooks, and release a 4K video on YouTube every week, among other things.
