The MOXY is a new and entirely unexpected offering from the Marriott brand; a chic set of hotels geared towards the fun-loving millennial who wants something a little more quirky than your average hotel accommodation. Located just steps away from one of Milan’s international airports, here’s a review of checking into and staying at the MOXY Milan Malpensa Airport Hotel.

MOXY Milan Malpensa Airport Hotel Review: lounge and bar area at night

The MOXY offers the perfect place to base yourself if you’re looking for somewhere close to the flights at the beginning or end of your Italian adventure. This is especially the case if you’re arriving late night or catching a pre-sunrise flight and don’t want to worry about finding a taxi in the dark!

There are airport car rental hubs nearby, and so you can easily depart from here bright and early if you’re planning to start your Italy travels from the MOXY. However, if you’re thinking about visiting Milan itself, then it’s worth considering that the hotel is based a little way out of the city and requires an hour on public transport each way. As a result, I’d recommend staying here for the airport and not for exploring Milan.

The Room at the MOXY Milan Malpensa

Small and compact, bedrooms at the MOXY have everything you might need for a simple night’s sleep. There’s a comfortable bed, soaps, shampoos in the bathroom, and a large flatscreen TV in front of the bed. The decor is in keeping with the rest of the accommodation; that is to say, unique, chic, and fresh. Ever social, the hotel even has their own hashtag: #atthemoxy.

Perfect for the budget conscious who are looking for something a little quirky, the entire set up of the room is catered towards travellers who always looking for a quiet space to sit and work while on the move. As a result, there’s USB sockets by your bed, as well as plenty of charging spaces throughout the more communal spaces of the hotel.

Communal Spaces at the MOXY Milan Malpensa

Unfortunately, the speedy WiFi wasn’t working during our stay. And so, instead of getting plenty of work done (as we’d promised ourselves), we instead spent plenty of time using the communal spaces located in the lobby of the hotel. Once downstairs, there’s an Instagram wall set against a neon backdrop, a foosball table (I quickly lost count of the number of games we played!) and plenty of computers for you to use.

The food and drinks bar serves coffees, alcoholic beverages, and various food packages throughout the day. All day and all night, in fact! Microwaves and a self-serve style of catering make this the perfect set up for an airport hotel; easy, quick and easily the best food choice for those who are planning to eat quickly- i.e. no one wants to be late for their flight!

Breakfast can be purchased on top of your stay and is served buffet style; with a large range of cold meat cuts, cheeses, cereals and unlimited juices and coffees on offer. Once it was light outside, we noticed a few more details that make the MOXY’s decor so unique; one wall was covered with motorbike helmets, and potted plants filled every available space, bringing a little nature into the open space.

Thank you to the MOXY for having us to stay #atthemoxy. All opinions and photos remain my own!
